It’s 2020 y’all and I’m introducing you to my new series Clutter 2 Cute. It’s for those of us who consider ourselves organized but there are just some things that we need to work on. I’ve got a lot of things in mind around my home but to get my feet wet in this whotle decluttering process, I started small and decided to work on my kitchen junk drawer.
The drawer was filled with STUFF and it was one of things I completely avoided but I knew I had enough when I was looking for a pair of keys that I knew was in there but I couldn’t find it. So I plotted and planned and took a trip to Homegoods and Ikea to get some organization solutions
With every organization project there are 3 things you need to do going in to tackle your clutter and they are as follows
- Assess Your Mess take a look at your stuff to see the different types of items you have in there
- Categorize Get 3 or 4 bins/boxes to put each type of item in each box. ie. all office supplies go in one box and kitchen supplies in another and remember to have a misc bin for random items
- Trash Keep a trash bag near, so you can get rid of anything that you don’t need.
Once you have cleaned out your drawer its time to clean up, its a junk drawer so depending on how junky your drawer is, will determine how many wipes. I needed 2 clorox wipes
Once you get that in there its time to place your compartments for your new organized system; in my case I used this and this and the clear cases were from Homegoods but here is something similar.
There is no wrong way to place your pieces, however you should put them the way you work in your space.
It took an overall 10-15 minutes from cleaning out, cleaning up and reorganizing. I’m ready to take on a bigger project…. I’m thinking a linen closet. If you’re not the reading type but definitely the watching type, watch the video.
Hope you liked it and tackle you next reorg project.
