As you may know, I’m an advocator for pretty homes and unless you have a designated play room these toy storage solutions with cartoon characters are NOT the move for the living space. So I’ve trying to come up with ways to create storage solutions for those of us who have limited space in our homes. I’ve done it in my home office and now I’m working throughout the rest of our home and as I manage to reorganize our living room, I’ve been brainstorming ways to store our little boys’ toys. Who also turns 4 today, Happy Birthday Noey!!
Living in NYC we don’t have the luxury of a playroom so he plays in our family room and his toys are stored off to the side, sometimes under the couch or I’ll have a ninja turtle or two on the coffee table and so I’ve had some ideas on how to chic up some storage solutions for our living space without it looking like a playpen, take a look.
Ikea has the Besta set that you can make into a credenza or buffet. You can easily store the kiddies’ books, action figures and legos in there and when they’re done, the toys can be put away and your space can look like you live there too.
If you have built-ins bookshelves you can also use the underneath storage for toys by using a basket or plastic bin that can be removed when they’re playing and once done can be put right back in and close the door.
If you don’t have the space for the above but you have room for a coffee table, then an ottoman with a removable top would be more your speed to store those toys.
Lastly, if you have more vertical space you can choose to get a metal storage rack like this one and create a hidden storage solution tailored fabric.
I love these creative solutions for toys and books, how do you store your kids toys? Do you have a unique way?
