The time has arrived where we say FAREWELL to the old and HELLO to the new, and as your decor ambassador, I’m here to share 2015’s decor and fashion trends with you. See I’m always here to help with the “important” things in life and I want to make sure that you don’t make it rain on the clearance rack this winter only to realize that no one’s checking for your “new” pieces.
Okay trends aren’t something that I follow to a T but I think if we use it as a guide we won’t make the mistake in making large purchases that will soon be old news. So I’ve come up with a quick list for you all on what’s new out here in these streets and as the great Thomas Jefferson once said;
“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” (Didn’t think I was philosophical right…BOOM)
DISCLAIMER: This is also not to say that you haven’t seen these in 2014, but you’ll see much more of it in the months to come.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
All Black & All White| I can’t help but sing the famous MJ tune in my head but 2015’s trend is all white and all black rooms as well as your ensemble. White or black from head to toe, I definitely know that I can do this one easily cause half my closet is black already.
Mixed Metals| Once upon a time it was blasphemy to mix your metals. You betta not have worn that gold watch with them silver bracelets and gold earrings!!” But now, child please its mixing metal madness and the more you do it… the more it works! Gosh I can’t get enough of this look. Some women are even mixing their wedding band/engagement rings with this new trend. Same goes for decor if you like it but its different metal then the rest, throw it in there cause it will go.
Faceted Pieces| This has been going on in 2014 but its going even bigger this year, so stay tuned. I’m loving the faceted movement in jewelry such as bracelets, earrings and necklaces. In the home you’ll see them in some vases, mirrors and light fixtures.
Pastels | Some of you may know that Sherwin Williams 2015 color is Coral Reef. So with this setting the tone, you will see a lot of pastels for the new year, I personally can’t wait to accessorize.
Global Prints| If you know me, you know that I love a good print and I’m stoked about this new trend because the earthiness that comes with global prints can make any room feel warm and interesting as well as give a girl a daring and memorable look.
Here are some honorable mentions for 2014, let’s say “good riddance” to a few of them.
BUH-BYE!! Taxidermy & Hipster Revolution | If I see another fake deer, wolf, bear or something with antlers I’m going to cry! Please stop the insanity, if you didn’t kill that poor animal while hunting in the woods somewhere outside your log cabin in Aspen don’t attempt to do this anymore in your Brooklyn apartment. Jussayin
I’m all for eccentricities in people and if its genuine then by all means, do you boo! For the rest of you, stop shopping at the ebays, craigslists, thrifts and fleas to get some ol’ raggedy piece of furniture because you want your place to have “history”. If it’s not your history… then it’s a mystery. (My inner raptress…BOOM again)
ADIOS!! Chevron & Pattern Overkill | I am a little upset about this one but hey, I have to accept it. Chevron is done ladies and gents. Let’s not see this in 2015 especially when they are put front and center like in this bedroom, back wall, pillows and throw. This is not to be confused with the warm colors and geometrical global patterns (above) but this down here; should stop now.
ARRIVEDERCI!! 50 Shades of Gray | Not only the book but the monochromatic gray look. I love gray and still think it’s the perfect neutral but I don’t want everyone to get so sick of it that they go back to beige or tan God forbid. So let’s take a break from the grays and add some other colors to make your room come to life such as those new pastels we spoke about.
I hope you’re excited about the new trends that are coming our way! I love them all and can’t wait to incorporate them in my home and my client’s homes this year. I hope that you take all the goodness that I’ve brought to you and optimize to the fullest and make the world a beautiful-er place!
I wanna hear from you, what trends do you like and will try this year?
