This post is waaaay overdue. As you all know my bestie Ashley recently got married to the love of her life early this summer and besides having the best matron of honor a girl could ask for, her special day was nothing short of amazing. Ash took such care in planning every detail of her destination wedding and seeing it come into fruition was an honor because I knew how much her and her (now) hubby had done to make their day extra special.
So lets jump right in to the destination. Ash and Asim got married on Paradise Island, Bahamas. It was my first time going to the Bahamas let alone to this island. We all stayed at Atlantis resorts and apart from seeing the commercials on TV, the place was ginormous. Although the resort is huge in size and guest population, Ash and Asim mastered an intimate feel for their wedding. It was full of love, laughs and food.
When it comes to these great images, I would like to give all the credit to Jide Alakija. He’s a extraordinary photographer that can be found throughout social media and media coverage throughout the world. You can find him here, here and here. On top of being unbelievably talented, he has a great personality and can make anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Welcome Party
On the eve of Ash and Asim’s special day, they were gracious enough to have a welcome party for all their guests. We had chartered buses fully equipped with a tour guide who took us through one end of the island to the next. The welcome party was held at the LOVE BEACH where we were indulged in rum punch, delicious food and great vibes. And oh boy, did we dance the night away!
Nirvana Love Beach was just that. It was full of color from the mini wooden cabanas painted in pink to the upper deck accented with different shades of green and the trees painted in the Bahamanian colors of blue, yellow and black it was the perfect place for a party and even a wedding. The venue hosts were great and it just felt like a home away from home.
The bar my favorite part was so colorful. Throughout the entire space there were love notes from everyone who’s ever been to Nirvana beach and here are the love birds right here sharing a smooch . When at love beach, you love deep.
We shared a great family and friends shot on the beach and you could truly feel the love in the air.
The bride-to-be, my hubby and my pickini
Let’s just have a moment for the rum punch
We had Chris Holley on the ones and twos and he kept it coming hit after hit, from old rockers to the latest joints.
and of course, a party aint a party without the electric and cha cha slide and the wobble wobble and … yes that’s my Noah leading the crowd. I truly can’t with that kid.
No one was in their seats and I mean no one. Side bar: I was trying to figure out how I could get these bamboo chairs in my suitcase, they were super cute!
We danced the night away!
Overall, the night was an amazing one. All guests had an opportunity to get to meet each other. Ash and Asim planned a great night that it felt like the actually wedding.
It was an extra bonus to know that we were celebrating the real deal the next day.
Stay tuned because on Monday, I will give you Part II on the details of her special day and more on the Bahamas!
Have you ever been to the Bahamas, where did you stay and would you go again?
