We have a long weekend ahead of us, and I’m super excited for the extra day. Yeah I know its Valentines on Saturday but if you’re not into that kind of thing, I got some super ideas that you can do while you have a little time off. See DIYing is what I love to do and sometimes it can take a lot of time so if you have the 3 days and are wondering what to do… let me give you some ideas.
As for me, I’m completely stoked on making my house a full blown construction site and all who are not happy can take the little one to the movies or perhaps the gymboree or the library for an hour or 2 or 10.
Most of these projects will take you about a good 2 hours, where the painting ones may be a little longer to give drying time.
I’ve listed some DIY’s from my favorite bloggers as well as from my past DIYs and I hope that you try something and tag me on it as I would love to see what you’ve done.
If you can use some inspirational posts or need to put up some reminders while still making it look pretty, you can always make your own pinboard. It took me all of 45 minutes to complete the project and it looks super fancy and is cost effective.
We all have inherited a piece of furniture either from our parents or grandparents and although it may have some great structure, the upholstery is screaming for a make-over. Or you just may have gotten a piece from a thrift shop or yard sale. Let’s bring that piece into the 21st century and give it some life. Well Kristin of Sophia’s Decor has a great tutorial on how she gave this french chair a new lease on life.
If upholstery isn’t your thing, or you would rather just sleep paint, the other Kristin of The Hunted Interior has chosen this perfect green to give some ol mis-matched chairs a grown and sexy look. So if you don’t like those kitchen chairs or that old dining room set, take some paint to it and show is some good lovin with a paint brush.
This one may take a little time but the outcome is so beautiful and will be totally worth it. Jen from Made by Girl came up with this lovely way of making a pendant lamp. I may do this for the office. It will take some time and make a bit of a mess but look at the outcome!
If this piece reminds you of something in your house, well then get to gettin and start painting or staining. Do something! because this isn’t acceptable to have in your house. It’s pretty dated. Virginia of Live Love DIY gives a great tutorial on how she made this piece become the center of attention. Take a look!
So whatever you decide, make sure you have some fun doing it. I for one plan on doing or finishing something. I’m sure the hubs is not looking forward to it but hey, I’ve been pretty quiet in the DIY department lately so its about time to shake things up a bit.
Have a Happy Valentines Day Everyone!!
