I’ve always been organized but as of lately, I have been feeling like my memory is failing me and it’s not because I lost 2 phones in 4 months well kinda it’s because I’m not putting things back where they belong and I’m always on the move. I’m actually drafting this post while on the train.
So Prix Decor is starting a new series called “Get It Together Tuesdays” cause I’m really on a mission to get it together one day. I once worked with a VP at Sony and she was super duper organized she could make Martha Stewart blush. Because she was so organized she was much calmer and seemed to have a hold on life.
As for me, in the morning….I’m constantly screaming “oh Sh–!” because I’m forgetting my wallet in the house or forgot to put on my earrings or can’t find Noah’s or my shoes… you get where I’m going here?
So I decided to start slow and small and work my way up to bigger things like pantries and coat closets. I will hold myself accountable by posting a hot ass mess of a situation I got goings on in the palace.
So in order to move forward with this journey, I need to remember that EVERY PLACE HAS A THING AND EVERYTHING HAS ITS PLACE!
This project started when I was preparing Noah’s snacks by putting them away in ziplocks and when I opened the draw, it looked like this.
This is a no judgement zone people!!!! (alright who am I kidding, do it… I deserve it)
I sorted and put all similar items together
I needed a way to access my ziplocks quickly… seeing that 100% of the time I’m usually doing things with one hand so I cut the top of the ziplock boxes off.
Okay the edges look a little dingy but if you use some scotch tape to line up the edges it will look neater.. I didn’t do it cause…aint nobody got time for that.
I repeated the box cutting for all of my ziplocks and arranged the draw where everything would fit flush. All the items that I had sorted, I put back into the draw but kept them together. I used one of Noah’s old plates as a divider and put my light bulbs, batteries and spare keys in there. I also used a disposable plastic bowl to keep my bag clips together. This project took me a total of 25 minutes.
It’s nothing big, but its a great start and I wanted to show you all how you can organize with a little imagination to store and compartmentalize your things. As of now I don’t have any issues getting lunch ready for the next day and I can always find the scissors and a pen when needed
Hope this helps!
Now go get it together people!!
