I am currently working on a project that involves mudcloth, I was inspired by the Afropunk Festival that happened this weekend in Brooklyn and if I had a sitter, I would’ve worn something really cool that involved mudcloth, just because of the look and feel of the print. For those of you who are unfamiliar with mudcloth, its also known as Bogolanfini and its a handmade cotton traditionally dyed with fermented mud.
If you remember my 2015 trends global patterns was going to be really big this year and Mudcloth is proof. Mudcloth is very simple in pattern, its usually a geometrical style. It has a repetitive pattern made of triangles, dots, straight and squiggly lines. As a matter of fact, I will do a tutorial for you guys on how you can make your very own mudcloth pattern. In the mean time check out the looks I gathered up for you all and the different ways mudcloth can be used.
