It’s going on too long now that my home office doubles as a storage unit. Everything we have that doesn’t have a home in the other 2 bedrooms goes in there. My hubby is the culprit of it all, he’ll deny it but its true. So here’s the thing when we first moved in I just knew what I was going to with the office, so I painted it this HORRIBLE color green, it was supposed to have inspirational images in b/w of powerful people from the 20th and 21st centuries. (NEVER HAPPENED). So I’m left with a green room with a black stripe that goes all the way around the room. It was just down hill from there.
The room is about 60 square feet so it’s pretty small but it has a poor use of space. I currently work at our dining room table on my laptop and Chris works on the couch. We need a workspace where we can both brainstorm and gather inspirations from our visual boards, etc. So I’m leaning towards an eclectic space with some of my vintage pieces and thrift shop finds.
I’m looking for a place to get the creative juices flowing and somewhat inviting, (this office is off of the living room) something that will make me feel like I want to work and not like I’m about to throw-up because of the horrific green and feeling like the walls are closing in on me. Just to note we don’t let our munchkin getting in there because we may not find him under the rubble. (IT’S THAT BAD!)
So here are the pictures and don’t judge me! Well try your hardest not too. The motive of this, is so I can show you the outcomes and chronicle the different changes to the room.
Holy Green! I’m covering up so much natural lighting with those curtains they gotta go along with husband’s DVD collection… what are those anyway!
Oh yeah forgot to mention that it also doubles as a workout equipment storage center
Whooiii I’m so embarrassed!
The best for last! This is a makeshift shelving unit. I plan on storing a lot of goods in here like crafts and fabrics, getting all these books in order and donate some of them.
So as you can see, I need to organize, purge and redesign. I’m giving myself a little over a month starting January 20th and completed my February 28th. Stay tuned for my Youtube channel on my progress videos as well as my DIYs.
These are my inspirations, I’m going for a modern eclectic look. Which will work for the hubby and our little one.
