HOT OFF THE PRESS! I’m so excited to share one of my latest projects with you because its a piece that’s near and dear to my heart. I recently told you about my beautiful besty, Ashley whose getting married to her handsome beau Asim next year.
So with that comes all the pretty little things such as engagement shoots and prepping for their big day. It all became really real when I was (unofficially) asked to creatively direct the shoot and once my wheels started turning, I just knew it was going to turn out amazing!!
THE SETTING: I chose a place that spoke to their personality, somewhere they could be themselves and in their element. Ash being the bubbly person she is and Asim being cool and laid back; I needed to find a happy balance for their “day” shoot, so I chose Chelsea’s Highline in NYC, a revitalized train passage originally built in 1934.
THE LOOK: Ash and Asim are one of the coolest couples out there! She’s a girly girl and so my vision for her was to have something that spoke to that. Scantily wasn’t the option here but bright and light is all I could think of. I found this pouffy off-white satin flowered skirt (that’s all the rage these days) and we started from there. In the midst of the July heat, I also wanted to lend the look to the weather with an easy breezy feel so we got this super soft tank and pulled the fuschia out of the skirt and paired it with these killer shoes and those Flat out Fabulous lips. Once that was confirmed we topped it off with her white stone necklace and yellow clutch.
Asim (Simmy) is a tech guy and 99% of the time he’s cool and laid back, leaving 1% for a bad day that I have yet to see. He’s the typical button down and jeans kinda guy so we wanted him to be himself with just a little “stank” on it and rather the two of them be too matchy matchy, I made them compliment each other’s flow. So he wore, ALL BLUE Errrthing! We gave him this baby blue Zara button down and paired it with these super saturated royal blue pants. The monochromatic look worked perfectly for him and tied everything together! Fly right?
Put this dope couple together in front of Jide Alakija’s lens and you get this!!
We loved this original graffiti wall that Brazilian artist Kobra has created!
Dance as if no ones watching!
Don’t you love them?!?! Me too!!
THE SECOND SETTING: During the evening (romantic session), they went to the W Hotel, located in the Wall Street area. This hotel had great views of the NYC’s skyline and a direct view to the Freedom Tower. The lobby’s ceiling was fully lit with LED lighting that would change colors movement every few minutes. HOTNESS!
THE SECOND LOOK: Asim is wearing a navy blue Donna Karen suit paired with a Hugo Boss knit tie (another trend that is hot this year) and Ash is wearing a perfectly beaded detailed Aidon Mattox dress that ends with a fringe which is so sexy but yet very playful, we paired it with a simple “barely there” strappy shoe from Steve Madden.
Voila!!! These 2 had such a romantic session and it simply sets the stage for an exciting wedding to come!
Look at these two?!?!? (Look at those legs)
You can see the love in all of these pics, it came so natural for them.
I was so honored to be a part of such a special day and working with this wonderful PRIX couple was sooo much fun. Jide’s talent and eye is like no other and it was such a pleasure working with him as well.
Hope you enjoyed and if you are interested in any of the pieces click the links in the text for more info.
Thanks for coming by!!!
