I’ve been asked to put a post like this up for the longest but it has taken me a while simply because they’re so many stores that try to do the home decor thing but fall short because quality may not be a strong point.
But have no fear my hunny buns, I’ve got you covered!! As a designer, my constant struggle is to make the budget work for the look my clients want and so my main mission in life is to make the money stretch. So I’ve listed some places that have the quality for their prices…
You are welcome!
Target: Tarjay is well known for selling everything but they come out pretty strong in the home decor section too. I love Target and all is has to offer, when the family and I go there, there is something for everyone. The decor section is mine and if you can’t find what your looking for in the store, you will always find it online. Also, Nate Berkus has a line there that is so fashion and decor forward, that others wouldn’t even think you got it from my favorite red and white store.
H&M: Yup that’s right, when H&M started selling home decor, I think I cried tears of joy and even wrote a post about it. They mostly sell drapes, duvet sets and a lot of design pieces such as throw pillows, and other elements that make your home come to life. I live for H&M design pieces, cause if you’re on a budget, here is where you can get your money’s worth.
Urban Outfitters: I love Urban Outfitters, because of the “off beat” kinda vibe they have. Its like hipster lane when you shop online or go into their store. If your the eccentric type and you love eclectic rooms, then UO is the place for you. I purchased my home office rug from UO for $75 bucks. I know right?!?
Marshalls /TJMaxx: Brand Sisters of my favorite store (Homegoods) will have you in there not only for some cool fashion pieces but you can also get lucky with great bedding, bathroom and decor pieces. Here’s a #prixtip if you’re in these stores and you see an item like but aren’t sure if you want it, PUT IT IN YOUR CART, I guarantee, if you choose to change your mind, someone could’ve scooped it up within seconds. Don’t say I never warned you! I’ve purchased several decor storage pieces from Marshalls and TJMaxx and still have them to this day.

Amazon: Yup, now if you know me you know that I have a sweeet spot for Ammy (their nickname), I simply heart Amazon for all the amazing things they do to my life. Put it this way, whatever it is that I need that would eliminate my time searching through the aisles of Michaels or Lowes, I’m all over it. I usually get EVERYTHING from Amazon to help with my DIYs, painting supplies and you guessed it, furniture. They have the best thorough reviews and their return policy is so good that if you don’t like it, you can always return it, especially when you’re a prime member like me.
A lot of my friends think that you still have to go to places like Ashley’s Furniture or Raymour and Flanigans or even Bobs Furniture to get their entire living room set. When in fact you will probably end up spending more than you have to and your place would look like a showroom rather than a reflection of your lifestyle and design. So next time you are looking for some pieces, check out some of these places.
What is your typical “go to” store for home decor?
